The fly hitting the window pane

According to Nietzche, I'm a fly hitting glass! 🪰

Nietzsche talked about perception, illusion and the limits of linear thinking.
Applied to the world of business and marketing, it becomes a reflection on how many of us, and brands, confuse apparent clarity with true direction.

It hurts to hit a wall, but damn it, it's there for all to see... It hurts much more to hit a pane of glass, because you can see the landscape on the other side and yet there's something blocking your way.

The metaphor of flies hitting vines reminds us that sometimes we have to stop, accept that there is an insurmountable and invisible obstacle and that just because we don't see it, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Then you have to stop, step back and wait to get out or look for an alternative exit.

Many brands and leaders keep banging on the glass. They repeat the same moves. They hope for innovation. But the obstacle remains.

This is what the fly teaches us:

1. Not all barriers are visible.
Just because you can't see the problem doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

2. More effort is not always the answer.
Putting in more effort can waste energy and time.

3. Stop. Take a step back.
Sometimes the best attitude is to pause and reassess.

4. Accept the limit.
Admitting that there is an obstacle is not failure. It's wisdom.

5. Look for another way out.
The way out often lies elsewhere. Change your angle. Change your approach.

6. Wait, if necessary.
Patience can reveal new paths. Haste prevents you from seeing the options.

7. Rethink your strategy.
Linear thinking leads to dead ends. Creative thinking finds doors.

8. Don't confuse light with freedom.
What seems to be the way out may just be another illusion.

9. Learn from the impact.
Every failed attempt is feedback. Use it.

10. True direction comes from awareness.
See the whole picture, not just the positive.

In business, as in life, the real obstacle is often the one you can't see.
